First broadcast in 2001, Tradesman's Entrance featured Danny Brown (The Fall Guy BBC 2, Dishes Ch 4) as he set out on a journey the length of the Britain Isles, working his way from North to South and on the way turning his considerable talents to a variety of tasks in exchange for food and accommodation. From peat cutting to fish smoking, stone masonry to lobster fishing, Danny (pictured on the left) had a go at them all. Each episode found Danny on a new leg of his journey, tackling new jobs in exchange for food, accommodation and transport. More than a travelogue, this series provided an entertaining insight into Britain's trades and crafts. The series reflected, as much as possible, the diverse nature of Britain as Danny embarked on tasks typical of the region he found himself in. In Scotland he cut peat on a highland croft, smoked salmon on Speyside and built barrels at a whisky distillery. In England he repaired styals in Derbyshire, made willow hurdles in Taunton and went on a training exercise with the RNLI in Cornwall.
