The aim of 'The Great Rod Race' is to try and catch every species of freshwater fish found in Britain, at different locations around the UK, in just 30 days. To accept the challenge you could find no better candidate than Matt Hayes, he is widely regarded as one of the best all round anglers in the business. To complement his skills he was joined by Mick Brown a predatory angler with an excellent knowledge of UK fishing sites. To succeed, Matt will need a game plan, and also will need to tailor his methods and techniques to each species. The keen angler will be interested to follow Matt and Mick's tactics: as both fishermen make decisions of how long to give themselves to fish if the fish aren't biting, which bait to use and which tackle to set up and when to give up and move on to the next stretch of water. Every angler is sure to have an opinion on how they would approach such a challenge, and they will no doubt be arguing which tactics to use from their armchairs.
