Mick Brown Profile
Mick was born in Birmingham in 1946. In trouble
as a child from day one. He was expelled from school at 16 without
any qualifications. Then he discovered fishing!
Micks first TV work was in 1976 when he made a fishing film
about eels for ATV with Terry Thomas! After 15 years as an engineer
with Lucas in Birmingham, Mick left industry in 1981 to follow a
dream of becoming a professional angler.
Mick moved home to the Lincolnshire Fens in 1987 where the extensive
local fishing gave him more scope for development. Micks Writing
career started to take off as well and he began to specialise in
pike and predator fishing.
In 1990 Mick Brown Angling Services was formed which still exists
today. Writing for UK publications soon led to other work. Over
the coming years the business branched out into European writing,
photography, videos, books, tackle trade consultancies and fishing
holiday development.
In 1994 Mick hooked up with Matt Hayes. A great friendship started
which survives to this day.
1996 Mick got an offer to join major companies Shimano and Fox
International as predator consultant. Eventually joined Fox on an
exclusive basis.
1997 Total Fishing starts and Mick gets the opportunity
to guest on a number of the programmes Many other TV appearances
in various other angling shows.
2000 co-presented Wet Nets for Discovery with Matt.
2001 co-presented the The Great Rod Race for Discovery and
i2i with Matt
2003/4 filmed Record Breaking Fish series for Discovery
and i2i with Matt. |
