The Engine

Russell Newbery engineOriginally, Dover would have had an 18hp National. Its original engine number was 46689. Her original gearbox number was: E-8143-21.

Dover was officially fitted with a National when built engines were routinely switched when due for overhaul or repair every three or four years. The engine would be mated to a 2:1 Brunton gearbox.

The engine pictured right is a Russell Newbery DM2 18bhp engine with PRM 260 2:1 gearbox, fitted when the Dover was restored in 2005.
