Heavy Metal introduced a new DIY discipline for Discovery Home And Leisure - Metal-Work! The rapidly decreasing cost of small welders and the wide availability in stores like HomeBase, Halfords and B&Q have seen an explosion of interest in all things metal. Willie O'Hara and Danny Brown selected pieces of discarded metal, either from a skip or a scrap yard and turned them into an item of furniture, decoration or even art! Willie O'Hara (pictured top) is Scottish and a time-served metal-worker from the Clyde ship-yards, he left when they stopped making ships and became a comedian. Starting out as a support act for Rik Mayall he went on to be nominated for a Perrier award at the 1995 Edinburgh Festival. Danny Brown is English, a stand up comedian and TV presenter. First coming to prominence in the BBC 2 prime time show The Fall Guy, Danny took on the role of expert in a variety of trades including golf pro, hairdresser and magician. Two series of Dishes on Channel 4 followed before Heavy Metal and Tradesman's Entrance.
