ProjectTwo :: 19/03/03 :: 8:00pm :: Aston Martin V8
Mark Evans
- rebuilds a genuine supercar - a 1974 Aston Martin V8 - a huge tank
of a car with a stonking engine to match.
Amanda Stretton
- meets Essex's grown up boy-racers of souped up Aston Martins - a father
and son who have a rather fast and furious racing Aston each. She also
meets the man who has 12 Aston Martins - one for every month of the year...and
a 007 style V8.
The car restored in Dream Machine was made in 1973/1974, and was originally
registered on 1 March 1974 at a time when the company was only building four or
five cars every week. It is a Series 3 V8, a type produced between 1973 and 1978.
When new, it cost £11,349 - which is equivalent to £58,000 in today's money -
and was one of 921 Series 3 types produced in five years. Since 1974 this car has
had five registered keepers.
