A derelict mid nineteenth century Herefordshire granary and cattle barn is transformed into a state-of-the-art 21st century luxury five bedroomed rural home by the Duddy family.

Barn Free will do for buildings what A Car Is Reborn did for classic cars - Discovery’s most successful series to date.

After working with four-wheels, engines and propellers, presenter Mark Evans turns his hand to four walls, cement mixers and diggers, plastering, painting, wiring and plumbing. He gets his hands on some serious builders’ tools and still manages to race some vehicles – this time it’s Bobcats in green fields.

An A-Team of builders, is headed by co-presenter and master builder Alan Herd. Over the 15 shows we’ll also get to know site manager Lester Hartman, local builder Steve Jones, Bolty and Danny the chippies, master bricklayer Clive and, occasionally, the elusive plumber, Cliff, makes an appearance.

The series follows the transformation from drawing board to finished building. They rip off the roof tiles, dig up the floor and clear out 50 years of pigeon droppings and find hi-tech solutions to 21st century I.T. and home entertainment. This is a step ahead of the usual three-room extension in South Manchester.

The series not only sees Mark and Alan sourcing brand new hi-tech materials but will also take in the reclamation yards and look at the use of recycled materials in this prestige listed development.

Every step of the build is covered, with the presence of on-site cameras constantly monitoring progress.
