A Plane is Born, first aired in 2002, on both Discovery Home and Leisure and worldwide on Discovery Wings. With fifteen episodes, presenter Mark Evans not only built a two seater composite aircraft from a kit but also learnt to fly, finally achieving his PPL after six months of hard work.

Unique on television, A Plane Is Born has inspired hundreds of would be aviators across the world to get out of their armchairs and have a go at building a kit-aircraft themselves.
